A study circle is a group of friends with whom you study jointly. Many people say that it’s a waste of time to study with friends as it can make you deviate from studies. But it depends upon the control you have on yourself and your friends and upon the will to study.
Studying in a group is an interesting activity. It allows access to different ways of thinking and different kinds of questions. It has several benefits, such as your friends can help you in understanding difficult concepts. They may discuss easier methods of learning. Some points which would go missing when you study alone will be covered when you study in a group.
Creating your study circle is not a big task. You need to follow just a couple of points and you will form the best study group. The following points can help you form your study circle for a better learning experience:
- You should be interactive with the students of your class and tuitions so that you are aware of the types of students around you, whom you can choose for your study circle. You need not be very serious about your study group and nor too choosy. Don’t choose all intelligent students or all weak or average students. Choose all types of students (just like a proper meal should contain all types of nutrients) but the ones who can cooperate.
- Don’t give up if you are unable to find correct students for the creation of your study circle. Start with any one person and the rest you will get to know in the lectures. You can make an announcement in your class for the interested participants or you can judge them in the lectures and invite them individually.
- Don’t hide your motives from the students you are inviting for your study group. Clearly state your plans about learning in the starting only. Don’t take all the decisions yourself alone. Do allow everyone to keep their opinions in front of the group so that no one feels disrespected and separate from the group.
- It would be better if everyone is doing the same as the group and everyone is cooperating. It should not be like two students have done more than half of the course and few don’t even know the syllabus. Or even if that happens, successful group work will be in helping the weak students rise to an equal level.
- Also, the study time should not be only about learning, but it should also include some fun to make it refreshing for everyone. Different kinds of interactive and fun tasks can also be performed in the group to make it intriguing (such as working on a group video, dancing, or some games, etc.).
So, try to make your own study circle. When you teach others, you get to discover newer points about the topic and develop a better understanding of it. Remember that, in TEAM – Together Everyone Achieves More..!
