If you have a teaching degree in your hand, that will be a big plus for you. Or if you are already a teacher but are new to the online world, your only concern will be to find students for yourself. However, if you do not have any degree in teaching and are totally new to teaching, you can still find ways to start your classes online. Here is how.

Like every obstacle brings with it its own set of opportunities which the opportunists or the smart-headed people often grab in a blink of an eye, this new shift of education to a digital and online platform can be used in a better way to take your chance at practicing your teaching abilities in the field or subject you are good at.

If you have a teaching degree in your hand, that will be a big plus for you. Or if you are already a teacher but are new to the online world, your only concern will be to find students for yourself. However, if you do not have any degree in teaching and are totally new to teaching, you can still find ways to start your classes online.

There are a lot of websites that hire teachers, experienced or inexperienced. If you don’t have a degree but at least have your skills or expertise in a subject, you can Google search those websites and find the ones that will hire you as a teacher according to your profile or resume.

This leads to another major point which is – making your profile. Make a good profile highlighting your experience in the field of teaching or your experience and expertise in a subject. If you are sending it to any website, make your profile according to their eligibility criteria. And if you are starting your classes without the help of any website, make sure you build an attractive and interesting profile that will tempt people to learn from you what you are good at.

If your profile gets selected on any website, then your online classes will start accordingly. If not, you can still become a teacher online. Your next step will be to decide where you would want to have your classes. For example, you can have your classes over Skype or Zoom calls, Webex, Microsoft Teams, or KidsChaupal.

Once you have made up your mind on that, decide if you are giving your classes for free or at a particular fee. Set your payment method. You can have it directly transferred to your bank account, or Paytm/ Google Pay/ PhonePe/ or whichever other online modes of payment you are comfortable with. Make sure that payment mode is comfortable for the people who would like to enroll too.

Next is to decide the days and timings. Decide if it is a course of few classes or every class is individual. Set a module for your classes. Also set it in the beginning only how you are going to adjust between the students who have been taking your class, who gets newly enrolled in your class, and who have missed the classes in between. Decide it in the beginning only how you are going to offer your learning to all the students who enroll. Do you have the age-groups in your mind too? Do you want to expand your classes for the people who would like to enroll from another country too? This whole planning is important.

Once you are set with all this, start propagating your classes on your social media profiles. The interesting profile you have created for yourself, share it on all of your social media platforms, ask among your family or friends who would like to enroll for the class, or if they know somebody who would be interested in the subject you are teaching. You can even sponsor your posts on social media. You can ask the people you know to share about your online classes in their network. Just make sure that you reach out to the people and let them know that you are starting with your own classes in the filed you are expert at and they are welcome to be a part of your class.

Give people enough time to consider and enroll in your online class, but not so much that they forget about it. Especially just a day or two before your class keep posting reminders so that people who are interested in your class won’t forget about it. If you are including fees, take it along with the registration of course. And once the people have registered for your class, do send them an email or text reminder on the day of your class or an hour before it. This is because many times people tend to forget about their online class as they already are immersed in a lot of screen time and loads of information available on the internet.

Send them a “thank you” for attending your class and send them the update on your next class and what they should expect from it. Also, if possible, ask them for their feedback on your class. Send them the learning materials if you have promised them any. And if you have asked for any assignments from them, make sure to collect them and send your feedback as it keeps their interest going and ensures them that you care about what they are learning and how much they are learning from you.

If you are considering becoming an online or offline teacher because you are willing to become a teacher and have a skill to share through your expertise, you can partner up with KidsChaupal and get various opportunities that will help you grow and expand as a teacher in your field.
